Christel grew up in Seattle, WA. She enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures, and has lived in the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest, the Northeast, the Southeast and now the Midwest of the country. She attended the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg, FL, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature in 2007, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Christel attended the University of North Dakota School of Law and earned her law degree in 2013. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was elected to Order of the Coif. During law school, Christel was a member of the North Dakota Law Review and her article Fraud – Rights of Action and Defenses: Statute of Frauds Does not Preclude the Assertion of a Deceit Claim was published by the law review in 2011. Christel served as the Symposium Editor for the law review and in 2012 she organized an event to address domestic violence and sexual assault in North Dakota. Christel interned with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office in Arizona, the fifth largest prosecutor’s office in the country, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in North Dakota. Prior to joining Gjesdahl Law, Christel was a Law Clerk for two years at the Cass County Courthouse. During her clerkship, her article Asbestos Litigation: Organizing Complex Cases was published in Court Manager magazine. In 2015, Christel and the Presiding Judge, Frank L. Racek, won an Excellence Award for their work in organizing complex cases. Christel lives in Moorhead, MN. In her free time she enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Christel was admitted to the North Dakota Bar in 2013 and the Minnesota Bar in 2015. She is a member of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, the Ronald N. Davies Inn of Court, and the Consumer Protection Law Committee for North Dakota.
